Don't forget
your Safety Goggles!
by
Karen Wright
Jeffrey Pribyl and Karen Wright were married in North Mankato,
Minn. on June 1, 2002. Their wedding took a very personal and
fun twist when the Pastor decided to conduct a chemistry experiment
during the sermon. (The idea of a chemistry "experiment"
was a tie-in with the groom's occupation as a Chemistry Professor
at Minnesota State University, Mankato.)
The
bride and groom had no clue as to what was happening when the
Pastor brought out two flasks of different colored liquids to
illustrate a point. As he was about to pour the one liquid into
the other, the groom, in his years of training as a chemist and
fearing some violent chemical reaction, whipped off his glasses
and yelled, "Wait! You have to wear goggles!" The Pastor
didn't miss a beat and put on Jeff's glasses and proceeded with
the
experiment while the congregation roared with delight!
(The
experiment was to demonstrate two lives coming together, and when
the aqua liquid was poured into the dark blue liquid, they both
remained the dark blue color -- united as one with Christ, unchangeable
once together).
The
chemistry theme continued at the reception where the tables were
decorated with chemistry lab flasks with a single bloom in each
one.
The
wedding was described by guests as the "most fun, personal
and meaningful" wedding they had ever attended.
