Me
and my husband Matthew had been dating for a year and a half. We
were very much in love and had talked about marriage numerous times.
Matthew decide the only way he could make something of himself was
to join the army. He signed up on July 26 2002 and they were going
to ship him off in September 9 2002.
We
decided to get married or we would never see each other again. He
wanted to go to the justice of the peace, that wasn't good enough
for me. I always dreamed of a big wedding. Being that we had no
money saved up and no time I gave in, I told him we would go to
the justice of the peace. When I told my sister what we were planning
she disagreed and encouraged me to have a small nice wedding. So
we called about 15 places looking for an inexpensive reception hall.
Finally we found the Elks Lodge in Carlisle Pa. Dimly lit, round
tables, bar area, dance floor, $10.00 a meal and two choices. It
was perfect for a small wedding of 100 people.
I
informed my brides maids promptly and went shopping for dresses.
We found sophisticated semi-formal dresses at Express in the local
mall $40.00 a piece I also found my wedding gown at Kauffmans Wedding
World on the discontinued rack. Everything is working out perfectly.
My sisters boyfriend is going to be our photographer and my uncle
is going to make our wedding cake and my best friend who is my Maid
on Honor is going to by the flowers.
We
decided to get married in my Mothers church the Newberrytown church
of God. The big day is August 31 2002. Who says you need a year
to plan a wedding when you have 4 weeks. We will have a nice beautiful
wedding just under $2000.00. I wanted to share my story with others
who are worried they won't be able to have a nice wedding due to
lack of money or time.
